PRODUCTS WITH HALAL LOGO@JASONS MARKET PLACE, TAIPEI 101 , TAIWAN

Location: Basement of the Taipei 101 building, next to the Taipei 101 food court

Date of Review: 15th September 2017

This supermarket did not offer a dedicated halal shelf.  All the products on the shelves in this supermarket are labelled based on the country of origin, except for those originated from South East Asia region (SEA), in which the labelling of SEA was used instead of the particular country from this region.

Packed Instant Foods and Beverages
The supermarket carried Korean instant noodle (Samyang brand), with the Korean authority’s halal logo and a number of packed coffee and tea with a halal logo. For example, ChekHup and Oldtown Malaysian coffee brands (with JAKIM’s halal logo) and many brands of packed beverages with a halal logo from JAKIM, Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) and Vietnam Halal Certification Agency (HCA). There is at least one cereal drink brand that has a halal logo of THIDA (Green Max brand).

Snacks and Biscuits and Traditional Taiwan Food Shelf/Products
Many snacks and biscuit products has a halal logo of either JAKIM or other halal authorities. There are many traditional Taiwan products, although very few has a halal logo. One Taiwanese seaweed snack has a halal logo of THIDA (Yu Min Buckwheat brand) and at least one pineapple cakes and mochi rolls brand that has a halal logo of THIDA.

Condensed milk, honey and sugar
It appeared that the supermarket did not carry any product with a halal logo in this category.

Personal Care Products
The selection of personal care products is very limited and none has a halal logo.

Dairies and other rapidly perishable products
Within the dairy isle, only one milk brand from Korea (Banana Uyu milk brand), and one from Australia (Southdale Farm brand) are with halal logos. Many of the imported cheese have a halal logo of the respective authorities in the country or region of origin, mainly from Australia and Europe. Many of the products of the brands of Chesdale and Emborg has a halal logo. At least three brands of yogurt have halal logos. In the drinks and juice section, none of the drinks had a halal logo, although there are many 100% juice drinks that are available on the shelf. One coconut milk brand from Thailand (Koh Coconut Milk brand), has the halal Thailand logo. There was also no halal logo products in the bread section.

Frozen Food Section

There was one brand (Market Garden) with a halal logo of Europe Council, which products include of corn and frozen mixed vegetable, hash browns and French fries.
